Blessed are the Meek
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."- Matthew 5:5
As we continue to grow in the Lord as a Christian, I ask myself all the time, do I have the right attitude? I believe it true that we need to be mentally tough. If we are not mentally though our ability to say no to sin becomes weak. Let’s not get this confused, meek is not weak.
Joshua 1:9 -Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
We often let fear dictate our decisions. When God said he is with me why would I live in fear? I can be strong and say yes, I am a Christian. I will act like a Christian; I will talk like God wants me to! Philippians 4:13 tells us, I can do all thing through Christ who strength me.
Let’s not get confused, God’s telling us he will give us the strength we need to handle what comes our way. If you have not had something come your way that is tough, give it time you will. He is not giving us the strength to outwardly act or talk or respond in some arrogant or boastful way. That’s not the strength he is talking about. Christianity is about God’s strength and God’s meekness.
Meekness is not weakness. Sometimes we confuse the two. But the difference between a meek person and weak person is this: a weak person can't do anything. A meek person, on the other hand, can do something but chooses not to.
