Bible Classes
At Fishers church of Christ, we offer Bible classes to children of all ages. We encourage all parents to bring their children to gain more insight of God and His Son. Each class is taught by Christians who are motivated and who will encourage your child to participate in each lesson. Toddlers even as young as 2 can learn about praying, about God and His Son, Jesus! As your child matures, each class will dig a bit deep into the Bible so s/he will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding of what God expects from us.
Adult Bible Classes
Adult classes are centered around group discussion. You may join in the discussion if you wish, but you will not be singled out or embarrassed in any way. You may quietly observe and study about whatever you hear. You will never be asked to simply accept what someone says about the Bible; we want you to read the Bible for yourself to see "whether these things are so" (Acts 17:11). If you do not have a Bible, we will be happy to provide one for your use.
High School (9th - 12th Grade)
Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and analyzing all books and chapters and making practical application to the way we live our life today. Young adults will face many problems not only in school, but with friends and coworkers as well. The teachers try to instill a mindset of humility and an openness to learn God's word to the best of one's ability. Students are equipped with in-depth studies of important biblical characters, stories and themes while also dealing with modern issues and studies of the many different denominations in our world today.
Jr. High School (6th - 8th Grade)
In order to accommodate the growth and development of this local church, our Bible Lab has been split into two separate classes in order to emphasize the New Testament to those children who are older, and getting closer to obeying the gospel. The Junior High School class is designed for children from the 6th grade through the 8th grade. Children will complete study tasks at their own pace using the Bible as a resource. Teachers will then quiz each student on the completed task for correct answers and comprehension of the lessons. Monthly lectures will also give the students a break from their independent studies as well as teach how the lessons can be applied to their every day lives.
Bible Lab (3rd - 5th Grade)
The Bible Lab is designed for children starting with those in the 3rd grade up to those children who are in the 5th grade. Each unit has lessons, activities, research tapes, vocabularies and Bible strips covering topics from both the Old and New Testaments. Children will work independently and complete each step at their own pace. Teachers are present to assist when needed and check work when completed.
Pre-Bible Lab (K - 2nd Grade)
The Pre-Bible lab class curriculum provides lessons and activities that cover both the Old and New Testament. The curriculum follows the events of the Bible in a chronological order allowing children to have an understanding and exposure to Biblical events and people. The class lessons are designed for a variety of learners and supplemental activities are included to monitor comprehension and understanding of the stories. The children complete hands on activities and crafts in order to strengthen their knowledge of the Bible story allowing the children to review what was learned in class. The lessons not only promote basic Bible knowledge but help children learn what pleases God.
Preschool (3yr - 4yr)
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” (Mk.10:14). In the preschool class, our focus is on basic characters and stories from both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Your child will learn all about the Bible from Creation to Christ’s life and teachings. At this age, the children are delighted to sing uplifting songs like “Jesus Loves Me”, “This Little Light of Mine”, “Lord’s Army”, etc.
Infant (1yr - 2yr)
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it.” (Pr.22:6) The toddler years are the best time to start teaching little ones to love God. Even at the young ages of 2 and 3 years old, little ones can begin to understand Christ’s love for us and begin to learn bible basics. This class introduces the different elements of worship. The children learn about giving back to the Lord and how to sit quietly in church. Teachers also help the toddlers learn to pray. Each child is asked who they want to pray for and what they want to thank God for, and then the children take turns saying a prayer. The beginning books of the bible are introduced and the little ones begin to learn the order of the New Testament books.
