Stark Contrasts! - Proverbs 10:8-11
The Bible is a book of stark contrasts. Good vs Evil, Love vs Hate, the Spirit vs the Flesh. To really define a righteous life or the life God wants us to live needs more space than a simple article and same with the wicked life. However, The scriptures from Old Testament to New Testament consistently show us the difference. In our verses today, Proverbs 10:8-11 shines the light on the consequences of living a wicked life compared to righteous one.
Proverbs 10:8: "The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin." This verse emphasizes the importance of wisdom and obedience to guidance rather than one who takes no precautions with their tounge. Do you let God take over your speech? Not only what you say, but how you say it?
Proverbs 10:9: "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out." Here we see the benefits of living with honesty and integrity contrasted with those who would take short cuts or dishonorable paths to their destination. Do you ask God to form your path each day and then do your best to walk it?
Proverbs 10:10: "Whoever winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin." This verse warns against deceitful and malicious behavior. Do you ask God to help you behave in a manner that Christian should?
Proverbs 10:11: "The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence." This verse contrasts the words of the righteous, which bring life and goodness, with the words of the wicked, which hide violence and harm. Do you continually confess our Lord through righteous talk and words from God's holy message to your friends and people of the world?
Proverbs 10:8-11 emphasizes the importance of wisdom, integrity, honesty, and righteousness in one's life, and warns against foolishness, deceit, and wickedness. In God’s infinite wisdom, He could not have given us this instruction in a clearer, more easily understandable way!
