Don't Make the Choice Hard
I have now been a Christian for over 50 years. In that time, I have seen a whole lot of good and some very disappointing things. The most disappointing thing I see is when Christians fall from God.
The scripture tells us it’s going to happen:
Romans 3:23 (CSB) - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Does it have to happen? While there are many reasons it does happen, I want to point out three reasons the Bible tells us that if we understand these points and work hard, it doesn’t have to happen.
Let’s ask ourselves this one important question: Are we 24/7 Christians?
Truly, it starts right here:
- Sunday Morning service
- Sunday Evening service
- Wednesday services
- Gospel Meetings
- VBS
- Men’s and Women’s Classes
Hebrews 10:25 (CSB) - Not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
If we are faithful to these six that are listed, is that good? No, that’s great! But is it enough? No!
Matthew 6:33 (CSB) - But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
1 Peter 1:16 (CSB) - For it is written, be holy, because I am holy.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (CSB) - Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
These five verses are strong indicators that we are servants of God 24/7. Anything less than this will not be pleasing to God! When you see those people who follow these verses, you can tell. There is no misunderstanding what their life is all about.
Their attendance is not a problem, their Bible knowledge is not a problem, teaching the lost is not a problem, forgiveness is not a problem, always looking at how they can serve God better. Are they perfect? No. Their actions, however, are louder than words.
In the world, not of the world
John 17:14-16 (CSB) - I have given them your word. The world hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
The simple answer here would be: Would God be pleased with my actions? Am I teaching them or are they corrupting me? I don’t care what our level is here; we all know the answer to this is very simple: YES or NO. I am a servant of God and I am teaching them!
Is making money helping the Church or is it really costing me and you our souls?
1 Timothy 6:10 (CSB) - For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
The key word in this verse is not money. The key word in this verse is love.
I will end with this: When you die, money means nothing. When you die, your soul means everything. Money can allow the Lord’s church to spread the gospel. The love of money can cost you your soul! The decision seems easy.
