What Jesus Sees in Me

If we don’t ask questions, there is a good chance we really don’t want the answer. For me, it’s like getting on the scales. If I don’t stand on them, then I don’t have to know the answer. Then, when I do get on them, I don’t want to believe them. No way, these scales are wrong! I tell myself; I’ll just wait until I go to the doctor’s office. I am sure their scales are better and will be more accurate. The scales at the doctor’s office are much bigger, and I know they paid a lot more than I did for mine. So, I’ll get on them, and they weighed me five pounds heavier than my scales at home!!! Then I say to myself, why did I get on these scales? I can’t believe this. The truth of the matter is, I knew. Anytime I wander off good eating habits, I gain weight. I just want to believe maybe this time it would not happen, but it always does.

There was a song out in 1990 titled "From a Distance." Part of the song goes like this:

And God is watching us

God is watching us

God is watching us

From a distance

Oh, God is watching us

God is watching

God is watching us

From a distance

Do we ask Jesus, "What do you see in me?" or do we really want the answer? By not asking Him, are we really saying we don’t want the answer? Maybe we think He is really not watching us that closely.

Matthew 10:29-31 (NKJV) - 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

These verses make it very clear He is watching us. And not from a distance. VERY CLOSE!

1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV) - 9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

You see, man is all about the visual. Need to see it. God is not like that at all.

So, what’s the lesson here for us? Don’t be fooled, wondering, "I hope God was not watching us." Or maybe, just maybe, He was watching us from a distance. I knew before I ever argued with the scales I was not eating right. Stop acting surprised about seeing the results. God knew before I ever stepped on the scales and never saw the display. What does Jesus see in me? One thing for sure, He knows! Am I truly serving Him daily the way I know He wants me to? Or am I a handshake away from Satan? If we read our Bibles and work hard for our Lord every day who died for us, we know what Jesus sees in us. By the way, I have lost the 5 pounds.
