Mr. C
As cars continue to advance in technology, it seems they never stop talking to us. It gets so annoying. Why is it so annoying? Everything my truck tells me is true. A. Fasten my seatbelt. B. Your lights are on. C. The roads are icy. D: BRAKE! Just to name a few.
Years before the cars started talking to us, I was already being prepared by a different voice. I won’t mention any names, but they ride in the passenger seat most of the time and their name starts with a B! Let’s just say I now have two voices in the car!
There is another voice I hear a lot, let’s just call him Mr. C. for short. If you are a Christian and you work hard at it and want to go to heaven, I would be shocked if you have not heard from Mr. C.
Hebrews 13:18 CSB: 18 Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything.
A conscience that is led by the spirit of God and cleansed by the blood of Jesus. So, if this is not what I am living by I should hear from Mr. C. Just like when my seatbelt is unfastened. According to the NHTSA, wearing a seatbelt reduces your risk of death in a car by 45%! Sometimes we need reminders when we are doing wrong. Mr. C reminding us that we're doing wrong, getting it fixed, and getting forgiven ups our hope of Heaven 100% if we stay pure and Christ-like.
2 Corinthians 1:12: 12 Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom but by God’s grace.
How about a clear conscience? Think about the benefits. How much better do you sleep? That prayer you just had talking to God—was it more sincere?
1 John 3:19-21 CSB: 19 This is how we will know that we belong to the truth and will reassure our hearts before him 20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows all things. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have confidence before God.
If you want to turn off all the warnings that voice in your car gives you, read your owner’s manual, there is a way. If you want the voice of Mr. C to go away, here are some ways you can do that: Start by slowly stopping coming to services. Do it slowly so nobody will say anything to you. Then get it down to just Sunday morning only. The lessons that keep you Christ-like will slow down, and you won’t care as much. Here’s a real good one: don’t pray, and stop reading your Bible—that should do it and almost guarantee you won’t hear from Mr. C!
Let’s see if you really know who Mr. C is? You decide: leave it on or turn it off?
Romans 2:4 CSB: 4 Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing[a] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
This is one voice we better leave on. It's life or death!
